How to Fix the Cursor Not Centering When You Open a GUI

If your cursor still lands off-center when you open a chest, crafting table, or inventory, the mod is either not applying to that screen or something is overriding it. Here is how to troubleshoot.

Check That the Mod Is Actually Active

Open any GUI and watch the cursor the moment the screen appears. With the mod working, the pointer should snap to the middle of the window every time. If it only centers sometimes, note which GUIs fail — the mod hooks into GUI opening, so a screen that opens through a custom path may behave differently.

Common Causes of Off-Center Cursors

  • Window focus loss: The original bug this mod fixes happens most often after alt-tabbing. If the cursor is centered on a fresh GUI but not after tabbing away and back, that is expected behavior the mod targets — make sure you are on a build that includes the fix.
  • Conflicting mods: Inventory tweaks, HUD mods, or anything that repositions the mouse can fight the centering logic. Temporarily disable them and retest.
  • Wayland systems: On Linux with Wayland, centering depends on ydotool being installed and permitted. If ydotool is missing or blocked, the cursor will not move. See the Wayland setup guide.

Quick Verification

Restart the game, open a chest, close it, open it again, and repeat a few times. Consistent centering means the mod is working. Inconsistent centering points to a conflict or a platform issue rather than the mod itself.
