Using Cull Less Leaves on a Server or With Shaders
Server-side reality
Cull Less Leaves is a client-side rendering mod. Installing it on a server does nothing for players who do not have it, and it does not reduce server CPU or network load. Each player who wants the FPS benefit must install it on their own client. On a server, you can still use it freely; it will not cause desync or kick you, because it only changes what your client draws.
Shaders and leaf culling
Shader packs often replace leaf rendering entirely with their own waving and lighting code. When a shader is active, the leaf mod's culling may be bypassed, partially applied, or produce visual conflicts such as leaves popping in and out. If you see that, either disable the leaf mod while using that shader pack, or lower the shader's own foliage settings. Test by toggling shaders on and off in the same spot and comparing.
Recommended setup order
1. Install your renderer and shader loader.
2. Install Cull Less Leaves.
3. Launch, pick a leaf layer count, then enable shaders and re-check.
4. If visuals break, raise the layer count first before removing the mod.
Multiplayer note
Because it is client-side, you can use different settings than your friends with no conflict. Tune it to your own machine.
