How to Enable or Disable Leaf Culling in Cull Leaves
Understanding the Toggle
Cull Leaves works by removing the hidden interior faces of leaf blocks that you would never see anyway. Depending on your setup, this behavior is usually controlled through a config file rather than an in-game menu. The goal is to let you decide whether leaves render fully or get culled for performance.
Steps to Change the Setting
1. Locate the config folder in your Minecraft instance directory (the same place your mods folder lives).
2. Open the Cull Leaves config file with a plain text editor.
3. Find the option that controls leaf face culling. It is typically a true/false toggle.
4. Set it to your preferred value: enabling culling removes hidden faces for better performance, disabling it restores the default full rendering.
5. Save the file and restart Minecraft so the change takes effect.
When to Toggle It
Leave culling on for normal survival and exploration, especially in dense forests where the FPS gain is largest. Turn it off temporarily if you are debugging a resource pack, taking screenshots, or troubleshooting visual glitches with custom tree mods. Remember that some performance mods may already handle similar optimizations, so test both states to see which looks and runs best for you.
