How to Combine Cull Leaves with Better Leaves Resource Packs
Why Combine Them
Cull Leaves removes hidden leaf faces for performance, while "Better Leaves" style resource packs make the remaining visible leaves look bushier and more natural. Used together, you get a fuller canopy without paying the full performance cost of rendering every hidden face.
Setup Steps
1. Install Cull Leaves and confirm it loads correctly on its own first.
2. Download a Better Leaves style resource pack that matches your Minecraft version.
3. Place the resource pack in your resourcepacks folder.
4. In-game, open Options, then Resource Packs, and move the pack to the selected side.
5. Apply the pack and reload resources.
6. Walk into a forest and check that leaves look dense but the frame rate stays smooth.
Troubleshooting Visual Issues
If leaves look flat, missing, or see-through in odd ways, the resource pack and the culling logic may be conflicting. Try loading the resource pack above or below other packs to change priority. If problems persist, temporarily disable Cull Leaves to confirm the pack works alone, then re-enable it. Some packs are designed specifically to pair with culling mods, so prefer those when available. Always test in a forest biome, since that is where the difference is most visible.
