Keep Trees Looking Natural While Using the Mod
Understand the Mod's Design Philosophy
Cull Fewer Leaves differs from aggressive leaf-stripping mods by preserving inner leaf layers. This maintains the thick, bushy appearance of natural trees rather than making them look flat or skeletal.
Find Your Sweet Spot
The mod's configuration lets you balance performance and appearance. Start with a moderate layer setting—not the minimum. This keeps enough leaves visible that trees retain depth and volume while still culling the completely hidden interior leaves.
Test in Different Biomes
Visit various biomes—oak forests, dark forests, jungles, and mangrove swamps—to see how your chosen setting affects different tree types. Some biomes have denser foliage naturally, so the same setting may look different across environments.
Adjust If Needed
If trees look too thin or geometric, increase the layer count slightly. If performance suffers, decrease it. The goal is finding the configuration where your forest still looks alive and full while your frame rate stays smooth.
