Create an Authentic Arcade Room Using CRT Effects
Building the Physical Space
Construct a room with dark walls and floors to simulate an arcade cabinet interior. Use dark stone, blackstone, or deepslate as your base. Leave a central area where you'll place your monitor frame—this becomes your viewing window into the game world.
Framing the Screen
Build a rectangular frame around your view using blocks that resemble a monitor bezel, such as dark wood, iron blocks, or blackstone. The frame should be thick enough to feel substantial, mimicking vintage arcade cabinet construction. Leave the center open so the CRT shader effects are clearly visible.
Adding Lighting and Details
Place glowing blocks (like glowstone or amethyst) around the frame edges to create that soft monitor glow the shader provides. Add control panels with buttons (using colored wool or concrete) below or beside the screen. The shader's glow effect will make these light sources feel authentically retro.
With scanlines and edge distortion enabled, your arcade room will feel like stepping into a vintage machine. The curved screen edges and flicker complete the illusion of playing on genuine old hardware.
