How to Load Cristel Lib Datapacks on Forge and Fabric

Cristel Lib handles datapack loading differently depending on whether you're running Forge (NeoForge) or Fabric, and it performs checks to make sure packs load correctly. Knowing this helps you avoid the common trap of a pack that works on one loader but silently fails on the other.

Where to Put Your Datapack

For a single world, drop your datapack into that world's datapacks folder. For a global setup that applies to every world, use the loaders' global datapack locations instead. Cristel Lib's loader checks will validate the pack when the game starts, so if something is malformed you'll typically see it flagged rather than ignored.

Verifying the Pack Loaded

After launching, run /datapack list to confirm your pack appears as enabled. If it doesn't, the most common causes are a missing or malformed pack.mcmeta, an incorrect folder namespace, or a pack format mismatch. Cristel Lib's cross-loader checks exist precisely so that packs written for one environment behave predictably on the other, but they can't fix a broken folder layout. Once the pack is listed, run /reload after any edit so changes apply live. If you're combining Cristel Lib configs with structure mods such as WWEE or Towns and Towers, load order generally doesn't matter because Cristel Lib reads configs by namespace, but always confirm your structures still generate after adding a new pack.
