How to Add Structure Configs to Your World Using Datapacks in Cristel Lib

Cristel Lib lets you inject structure configuration data at runtime through datapacks, so you can tweak or add structure setups without touching any code. This is the main workflow for players who want to customize how structures generate.

Creating the Datapack Folder Structure

Start by creating a datapack folder in your world's datapacks directory. Inside it, you need a data folder with a namespace of your choosing (for example, data/mypack/). Cristel Lib reads structure config data from this namespace, so keep the folder names consistent. Add a pack.mcmeta file at the root so Minecraft recognizes the pack, then load the world and run /reload to confirm the pack is active.

Adding and Testing Structure Data

Place your structure configuration files inside the namespace folder following the layout Cristel Lib expects for structure configs. Once the files are in place, run /reload again so the mod picks up your changes without restarting. If a structure doesn't appear as expected, double-check that your namespace matches the folder path and that the pack shows as enabled in the datapack list. Because Cristel Lib supports runtime datapacks, you can iterate quickly: edit a file, reload, and check generation in a fresh chunk or with a structure-locating command. This makes it practical to fine-tune structure placement and behavior for mods like Towns and Towers, Explorify, or Terralith that rely on Cristel Lib configs.
