Force a Specific Biome Variant on a Creeper

Using Name Tags to Lock Variants

The Creepers Refreshed pack automatically assigns variants based on biome, but you can override this behavior using Name Tags. This is useful if you want to keep a specific variant in a location where it wouldn't normally spawn, or create a themed display.

Steps

1. Obtain a Name Tag from fishing, loot chests, or crafting

2. Place an Anvil and open it

3. Combine the Name Tag with your desired biome name (for example: "Forest", "Desert", "Nether", "Coral")

4. Apply the renamed Name Tag to any Creeper using right-click

5. The Creeper will now permanently display that biome's variant, regardless of where it spawns or moves

Tips

  • The variant name must match one of the 22 available designs (Forest, Birch, Desert, Jungle, Snowy, Swamp, Nether, End, etc.)
  • Name Tags persist even if the Creeper moves to a different biome
  • This works with any Creeper in your world—useful for creating custom mob displays or themed farms
  • If you're unsure of exact variant names, check your resource pack folder or experiment with common biome names
