How to Craft and Use Steel Armor, Axe, Doors, and Bars
Steel Gear
Steel Ingots craft into a full set of armor (Steel Boots, Steel Chestplate, and the rest) plus a Steel Axe. The axe doubles as a weapon and a tool, and the armor sits between iron and diamond in protection — a solid mid-game upgrade if you have iron and coal to spare.
Steel Building Blocks
Steel also unlocks a construction set: Steel Casings, Steel Bars (window grates and cages), Steel Doors, and a Locked Steel Door. The Locked Steel Door cannot be opened by hand — it needs a redstone signal or the correct key item, making it useful for vaults and multiplayer bases where you want a door that guests can't just click open.
Steel Catwalks
Steel Catwalk, Steel Catwalk Stairs, and Steel Catwalk Railing form a modular walkway system. Place Catwalk blocks in a line to span gaps, add Railings along the edges so you don't fall off, and use Catwalk Stairs to change elevation. This is the mod's answer to industrial scaffolding and looks great over machinery or a forge room.
Tips
- Steel Bars are cheaper visually than a full wall and let light through — perfect for factory windows.
- Pair Steel Casings with Create-style shafts and cogwheels; the mod includes Steel Encased Cogwheel and Bronze Encased Cogwheel variants that blend into alloy builds.
- Keep a stack of Steel Ingots on hand before starting a big catwalk; the railings eat a lot of material.
