Organizing Your Base with Crates and Bags
Zoning Your Storage
Crate Delight works best when you treat crates and bags as a zoning tool rather than random chests. Divide your base into functional zones: a farm zone for produce crates, a kitchen zone for ingredient bags, and a utility zone for things like gunpowder.
Step-by-Step Setup
1. Clear a wall in each zone and measure how many block spaces you have.
2. Decide which items belong in that zone — for example, apples, carrots, potatoes, and mushrooms in the farm zone.
3. Craft the matching crates and bags using JEI/REI lookups.
4. Place them in a single row at eye level so you can read textures without crouching.
5. Move existing chest contents into the new crates and bags, then remove the old chests to free floor space.
Keeping It Tidy
- Reserve one crate per item type; never mix two crops in one crate, or the visual cue is lost.
- Put a sign or item frame above each block if you share the base with other players.
- Revisit the wall after each play session and consolidate half-empty crates.
Why It Works
Because crates and bags are dimensionally compact and visually themed, a well-planned wall replaces dozens of chests while making your base look intentional rather than improvised.
