How to Craft and Use Crates in Crate Delight

Crafting a Crate

Crates are the core storage block of the mod. Open your crafting grid and arrange the recipe ingredients in the pattern shown in the mod's recipe book (press E and check the recipe tab, or use JEI/REI to look up "Crate"). Once crafted, place the crate down like any chest — it will sit flush with the ground and look like a wooden produce box.

Storing and Retrieving Items

Right-click a placed crate to open its inventory. Crates are designed for bulk goods: drop in stacks of apples, sweet berries, eggs, raw salmon, raw cod, glow berries, golden apples, mushrooms, carrots, or potatoes. Because each crate is dedicated to a themed item, you can build a storage wall where every crate visually matches its contents — no more guessing which chest holds what.

Practical Tips

  • Break a full crate with any axe or by hand; the contents stay inside the item form, so you can relocate it safely.
  • Use crates as decoration in markets, barns, or kitchens — they read as produce displays rather than generic chests.
  • Pair crates with bags (see the bags guide) to cover both bulk items and small ingredients in one organized room.
  • If you have the Croptopia addon installed, the same crafting logic applies to the expanded crate set.
