How to Recycle Chainmail Armor into Iron Nuggets

Chainmail armor is normally unobtainable through crafting in vanilla Survival mode, making it rare and valuable. However, if you have unwanted chainmail pieces, recycling them yields iron nuggets—a useful crafting material.

Each piece of chainmail armor breaks down into a different quantity of iron nuggets based on its size and coverage.

Recycling Process

Place a single chainmail armor piece in any slot of your crafting grid. No other materials are needed. The iron nuggets will appear in the output slot immediately.

Common recycling yields:

• Chainmail boots → iron nuggets
• Chainmail leggings → more iron nuggets
• Chainmail chestplate → even more nuggets
• Chainmail helmet → additional nuggets

Using Your Iron Nuggets

Collect your iron nuggets and use them for crafting or smelting. Nine iron nuggets combine into one iron ingot, which you can use for tools, weapons, or other metal items.
