Craft Your First Gunpowder
Gather the Four Base Materials
Before you can craft gunpowder, you need to collect redstone dust, glowstone dust, flint, and either coal or charcoal. Redstone dust drops from redstone ore found deep underground. Glowstone dust comes from breaking glowstone blocks, typically found in the Nether. Flint is obtained by breaking gravel with a shovel. Coal can be mined from coal ore, or you can make charcoal by smelting wood logs in a furnace.
Combine Ingredients at a Crafting Table
Once you have all four materials, open a crafting table and place one of each item into the crafting grid. The recipe is shapeless, meaning the order and position of items don't matter—you can arrange them however you like. After placing all four ingredients, gunpowder will appear in the output slot. Take it and you're done.
Use Your Gunpowder
Your newly crafted gunpowder can be used for any normal gunpowder recipe: crafting TNT, making fire charges, brewing potions, or creating firework rockets. This method lets you produce gunpowder on demand without waiting for nightfall or hunting creepers.
