Hearing Rain Differently on Every Surface

Cool Rain Mod makes rain react to whatever it lands on. Instead of one flat looping rain sound, the mod checks the block beneath each raindrop and plays a matching sound, so a single storm can sound completely different depending on where you stand.

Each surface has its own character. Glass gives soft, tapping sounds. Water produces gentle splashes. Lava and magma hiss and sizzle. Foliage rustles with soft, leafy drops. Metal blocks ring out with sharp, metallic pings. Wool absorbs the impact into muffled, soft thuds.

In practice, this means a base with a glass roof, a metal walkway, and a wool-lined bedroom will sound distinct in each room during a storm. Build with mixed materials and you get a layered soundscape rather than a single background track.

The mod is purely audio — it changes how rain sounds, not how it behaves. No new blocks or items are needed; just play in the rain and listen to what you are standing on.
