How to Fix Food Eating Delays and Desync on High Ping with Consumable Optimizer

If you play on a server with high latency, you have probably noticed that eating feels sluggish: you hold right-click, the animation starts, then the server "recalls" your action and the eating bar resets. Consumable Optimizer fixes this by handling the eating process on your client while still letting the server confirm the actual effects.

What the mod actually changes

Normally, when you eat, your client sends a request to the server and waits for a response before the food is consumed. On a laggy connection this round-trip causes the visible delay and the annoying animation restarts. With Consumable Optimizer installed, the client predicts the consumption instantly, so the food disappears from your hand and the eating animation completes without stuttering. The server still processes the real consumption, so hunger, saturation, and any status effects like Absorption or Regeneration are applied correctly.

Steps to get smooth eating

1. Install the mod on your client (it is client-side, so you do not need it on the server).

2. Join any server, including one with high ping.

3. Hold right-click with a food item in your hand.

4. Notice that the eating animation no longer restarts mid-bite and the item is consumed the moment the bar fills.

5. Check your hunger bar and any potion effects to confirm the server still registered the meal.

If eating still feels delayed, make sure no other mod is overriding food consumption, and verify the mod is actually loaded in your mod list.
