How to Open and Edit a Mod's Config Screen In-Game

Finding the Config Button

On Forge and NeoForge, open the Mods menu from the main menu or pause screen. Each installed mod that uses Configuration API shows a Config button next to it. Click it to open that mod's configuration screen directly.

On Fabric, the Mods menu does not have a built-in Config button. Install ModMenu to get one. Once ModMenu is present, open the Mods list, find the mod you want, and click its config icon to launch the Configuration API screen.

Navigating the Screen

The screen is split into three parts:

  • Header — shows the name of the current config file or the subcategory you are inside.
  • Content — lists every configuration entry. Each entry has a display name, a description/tooltip, and an input control (toggle, slider, text box, dropdown, etc.).
  • Footer — holds the save/reset actions and any navigation back to a parent category.

Adjust a value by clicking or dragging its control. Hover an entry to read its tooltip, which usually explains what the option does and any valid range.

Saving Your Changes

When you are done, use the save action in the footer. Some mods apply changes immediately; others require a game restart or a world reload. If a value refuses to change, it may be locked by the server (see the synchronization guide).
