Preserve Your Custom Settings When Updating a Modpack

How Config Manager Protects Your Settings

Config Manager is designed to respect your personal configuration choices. When you first install a modpack, default configurations are only copied if your config files don't already exist.

Keeping Your Changes Safe

1. Don't use Update unless you specifically want the modpack's latest settings

2. Simply update the modpack files themselves—your /config folder remains untouched

3. Only use the Update function when you want to adopt new modpack defaults

4. Use Reset sparingly, only for individual mods that need fixing

Backup Strategy

If you're worried about losing settings, manually copy your /config folder to a backup location before updating your modpack. This way, if you accidentally update a configuration you wanted to keep, you can restore it from your backup.

Config Manager gives you full control—your custom settings are safe by default.
