Use Colored Light Effects with Stained Glass

Create Colored Light Sources

While the shader removes most color from your world, you can still see colored light by using stained glass strategically:

1. Craft or gather stained glass in any color you want (red, blue, green, etc.).

2. Place the stained glass between a light source (like torches or glowstone) and the area you want to illuminate.

3. The light will cast colored shadows on the ground beneath the stained glass, creating dramatic colored effects against the grayscale landscape.

Design Lighting Setups

Use this mechanic for decoration and atmosphere:

  • Build stained glass windows or panels in your base to project colored light patterns.
  • Layer different colored glass to create complex shadow effects.
  • Position torches or other light sources behind the glass at different heights for varied shadow intensity.
  • Combine multiple colors in one area for a more complex lighting design.

This is one of the few ways to introduce color into your black and white world, making stained glass structures both functional and visually striking.
