Troubleshoot Performance Issues

Optimize for Older Hardware

If you experience lag despite the shader being low-end friendly:

1. Reduce your render distance in video settings. Start at 8-12 chunks and increase only if performance allows.

2. Disable fog in shader options if it's causing frame drops—this removes some atmosphere but improves speed.

3. Lower your graphics quality setting if available in the shader menu.

4. Close unnecessary background applications to free up system resources.

Adjust Visual Features

Turn off non-essential effects to boost performance:

  • Disable the damage flash red light effect if you don't need it.
  • Reduce shadow quality or disable shadows entirely if they're causing stuttering.
  • Keep the torch light color setting simple (gray rather than orange) to reduce processing overhead.

The shader is designed to run on older PCs, but if you still experience issues, these adjustments prioritize performance while maintaining the black and white aesthetic. Test each change individually to find the right balance for your system.
