Reduce Performance Impact While Keeping Visual Quality
Identify Performance-Heavy Features
The most demanding aspects of this shader are typically ultra-realistic lighting calculations, shadow rendering, and water reflections. Access your shader settings and look for options labeled shadow quality, reflection detail, or lighting complexity.
Lower Intensive Settings Strategically
Start by reducing:
- Shadow resolution or distance (trees and buildings will cast softer, less detailed shadows)
- Reflection quality on water (reflections become simpler but the water still looks good)
- Light beam intensity (god rays from the sun become less pronounced)
Keep Fantasy Colors Enabled
The bright, saturated colors are less performance-intensive than lighting effects. You can maintain the mod's signature vibrant appearance while cutting frame rate impact by focusing cuts on the lighting systems.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use an in-game FPS counter to measure improvement. Make one change at a time so you know which setting gives the best performance gain. Test in different biomes and times of day to ensure playability across all conditions.
