Fixing the Black Background Behind Half Absorption Hearts

In vanilla, when you only have a half absorption heart, an ugly black square shows behind it. Colorful Hearts fixes this by adding proper background textures for half hearts, but you may still see oddities if something is misconfigured.

What the Mod Does

The mod supplies background textures specifically for half hearts, so a lone half absorption heart renders cleanly instead of sitting on a black box. This is automatic once the mod is installed — there is nothing to toggle for the basic fix.

If You Still See a Black Box

1. Confirm the mod is actually loading. If another mod overrides heart rendering, it can win the conflict and reintroduce the black background.

2. Check for mods that also touch the health bar, such as HUD or status mods, and test with them disabled to isolate the culprit.

3. Make sure your resource pack is not replacing the heart textures with an older set that lacks the half-heart backgrounds. Temporarily switch to the default pack to test.

4. Restart the game after any change, since heart textures are loaded at startup.

Once the correct textures load, half absorption hearts should appear with a clean background.
