Checking Mod Compatibility with Collective Library

Finding Dependency Information

Before installing a mod, check its CurseForge or Modrinth page for a "Dependencies" or "Requirements" section. This lists whether Collective Library is needed and which version.

Compatibility Checklist

1. Mod loader match: Ensure Collective Library supports your mod loader (Forge, Fabric, NeoForge, etc.)

2. Minecraft version: Verify the library version supports your Minecraft version

3. Dependent mod version: Check that your mod version is compatible with the library version listed

4. Multiple mods: If installing several mods that need Collective Library, they should all be compatible with the same library version

What to Do If Versions Conflict

If two mods require different Collective Library versions:

  • Check if a newer library version supports both mods
  • Update one or both mods to versions that share a compatible library version
  • As a last resort, choose which mod to keep

Testing Compatibility

After installing mods and Collective Library, launch the game in a test world. If it loads without crashes, compatibility is confirmed. Check the main menu log for any warnings about unmet dependencies.
