Troubleshooting Network Packet Errors Between Client and Server

How Packet Networking Works

CodeChickenLib manages data communication between your game client and multiplayer servers. When you perform actions in modded content, packets carry that information to the server and back. If this system fails, mods won't sync properly.

Common Packet Issues

If you experience:

  • Mods working in single-player but not multiplayer
  • Actions not registering on servers
  • Desync between what you see and what the server sees

CodeChickenLib's packet system may not be loaded on the server, or a version mismatch exists between client and server installations.

Fixing Packet Problems

Ensure CodeChickenLib is installed on both your client and the server. Version mismatches are a common cause of packet failures—if the server has an older or newer version than your client, synchronization breaks. Ask your server admin to match versions with your client installation. Single-player worlds bypass some packet checks, which is why mods work there but fail on servers.
