Navigate Through a Cave

Cave Locations

Caves are scattered throughout Kanto and block progress on your journey. Mt. Moon lies between Pewter City and Cerulean City and is one of the first caves you'll encounter. Caves contain wild Pokémon, items, and sometimes trainers.

Preparation

Bring multiple Poké Balls to catch new Pokémon species found only in caves. Stock healing items like Potions to restore health during exploration. Caves can be maze-like, so take your time and explore thoroughly.

Finding Your Way

Caves are built as multi-level structures with multiple paths. Look for openings and passages leading deeper or upward. Some routes may be dead ends—backtrack and try alternate paths. Pay attention to the layout and mark mentally where you've been.

Cave Pokémon

Rock-type and Ground-type Pokémon are common in caves. These creatures often have different stats and moves than surface Pokémon, making them valuable team additions.

Exiting

Once you've explored and caught what you need, continue following the main path until you reach the cave exit leading to the next town.
