Using Pokemon Spawners in a Modpack or Datapack Setup
Pokemon Spawners are often used by pack authors to build structured encounters, so if you are playing a modpack the block may already be configured for you. Understanding how it fits into a pack saves a lot of confusion.
Finding pre-built spawners
In a modpack, spawners are usually placed inside structures, dungeons, or arenas rather than handed to you as an item. Explore the pack's custom dimensions and buildings; when you find a spawner, interact with it to see which Pokemon it is set to produce. Do not break these unless you intend to relocate the encounter, because the configuration lives on the block.
Adding your own encounters
If you want to build your own, craft or obtain the spawner block and place it where you want the fight. Assign the Pokemon through the interface, then build the arena around it. For datapack-driven packs, the spawner may read its Pokemon from pack data rather than the interface, so check the pack's documentation before assuming the block is broken. When sharing a world or server, remember that the spawner's settings are stored in the world, so copying the block alone will not copy its configuration.
