How to Use /cfind and /cfindblock to Locate Entities and Blocks
What these commands do
/cfind locates entities and /cfindblock locates blocks within range of your position. Both are client-side searches: they can only report things your client already knows about, so they work best in areas you have loaded and explored.
Finding entities with /cfind
1. Stand in the area you want to search.
2. Run /cfind with the entity type you are looking for. Use autocomplete to pick the exact type.
3. Read the chat output for coordinates of each match.
4. Travel to the coordinates. If nothing is found, move to a new spot and search again, since the range is limited.
Finding blocks with /cfindblock
1. Stand near the region you want to scan.
2. Run /cfindblock with the block you want. Autocomplete helps you get the exact block id.
3. Note the reported coordinates and go to them.
Practical tips
- Use
/cfindto track down a specific mob (a wandering trader, a named pet, a hostile that wandered off). - Use
/cfindblockto locate a specific machine, ore, or decorative block in a large build. - Neither command generates new chunks; if the target is outside loaded/known chunks, it will not appear. Walk closer and re-run.
- Combine with
/cfinditemwhen you want the contents of containers rather than the blocks themselves.
