How to Set Up Command Aliases with /calias

What aliases are for

/calias lets you bind a short name to a longer command so you can type less. If you constantly run the same long command, an alias turns it into a few characters. Aliases are client-side, so they only exist for you.

Creating an alias

1. Decide on the short name and the full command it should stand for.

2. Run /calias with the alias name and the command it maps to, following the syntax the command's help shows. For example, map a short word to a long /cfind invocation.

3. Test it by typing the alias. It should expand to the full command and run.

Managing aliases

  • List your existing aliases with the command's list form to see what is already bound.
  • Remove an alias you no longer want with the command's delete/remove form, naming the alias.
  • If an alias name collides with a real command, expect the real command to take priority or the alias to be ignored; pick a name that is not already a command.

Tips

  • Aliases are great for long /cfinditem or /cfindblock searches you repeat often.
  • Keep alias names short but memorable so you actually remember them.
  • Because aliases are client-side, they will not work on a server for other players and may not persist if your config is reset.
