How to Survive Encounters with Roamer Mobs

Identify Roamer Behavior

Roamers are hostile humans that wander the map during daytime, hunting animals and attacking any mob they see. Unlike base-bound humans, they patrol openly and will pursue you if they spot you. They use the same line of sight detection, so they only aggro when looking directly at you.

Evade or Engage

If you spot a roamer first, hide behind terrain or buildings to avoid direct line of sight. Move perpendicular to their gaze rather than directly away. If combat is unavoidable, engage at range with a bow before they close distance. Roamers are equipped with gear and will drink healing potions, so fights can be extended.

Use Stealth Tactics

Crouch-walking reduces detection range significantly. Travel during night when roamers are less active. If you're caught in open terrain, sprint toward natural cover like forests or mountains. Remember that roamers hunt animals too—if you see dead livestock, a roamer recently passed through the area.
