Navigating the Multi-Level Stronghold Layout

Understanding the New Structure

The Citadel of Trials replaces the vanilla stronghold with a complex, multi-wing fortress. Instead of linear corridors, you'll encounter interconnected chambers: Barracks, Crypts, Jails, Libraries, Storage areas, and a central Fountain Hall. Each wing has different difficulty levels and loot tiers.

Mapping Your Route

Start from the Portal Room and systematically explore each wing. The Fountain Hall serves as a central hub connecting major areas—use it as a landmark to avoid getting lost. Libraries and Storage rooms are typically safer for gathering basic supplies, while Crypts and Jails contain the toughest spawners.

Progression Path

Begin in lower-difficulty areas like the Library to gather initial gear and Stronghold Keys. Use these to unlock vaults and prepare for Barracks and Jail encounters. Save Crypt exploration for when you're well-equipped, as these dark stone corridors contain the most dangerous spawner waves.

Portal Access

The End Portal sits in the reinforced Portal Room. Only venture there once you've gathered sufficient Dragon's Breath, Phantom Membranes, and combat experience from the stronghold trials.
