Troubleshoot Washed-Out or Over-Darkened Visuals

Check Your Monitor Brightness

Before adjusting shader settings, ensure your monitor brightness is set to a comfortable level. Noir Lighting uses extreme blacks and whites, so monitor calibration directly affects how you perceive the effect. A dim monitor may make everything look muddy; a bright one may wash out details.

Reset Shader Settings to Defaults

If visuals appear broken or unbalanced, open Shader Options and look for a Reset or Restore Defaults button. This clears any conflicting adjustments and returns the shader to its intended appearance.

Verify Gamma and Exposure Settings

Some versions include Gamma or Exposure sliders. If the world looks too dark, increase Exposure slightly. If it looks washed out, decrease it. Make small adjustments—these settings have strong effects on the overall look.

Check for Conflicting Mods

Other visual mods (like brightness adjusters or color filters) may interfere with noir rendering. Disable suspicious mods one at a time and restart to identify conflicts. Noir Lighting works best as your primary visual enhancement.
