Optimize Performance on Low-End Systems

Reduce Render Distance Strategically

Lower your render distance to 8–12 chunks if you experience frame drops. Noir Lighting is lightweight, but distant terrain still requires processing. Start low and increase gradually until you find your system's limit.

Disable Unnecessary Visual Features

Access Shader Options and look for toggles like Volumetric Lighting, Ambient Occlusion, or Screen-Space Reflections. Disabling these advanced effects preserves the monochrome aesthetic while freeing GPU resources. The core noir effect remains intact.

Lower Texture Quality Settings

In your Minecraft Video Settings, reduce Mipmap Levels and disable Fancy Graphics if needed. These changes work alongside the shader to maintain performance without compromising the noir visual style.

Monitor Frame Rate

Use F3 (Debug Screen) to watch your FPS. Aim for stable 30+ frames on potato hardware. If performance dips below this, reduce render distance further or disable one more visual feature. Noir Lighting should run smoothly even on integrated graphics.
