Adjust Noir Contrast and Shadow Depth

Access Shader Settings

Open the Shader Options menu from your Video Settings. Look for the Cinematic Noir Lighting profile in your active shader list, then click Shader Options or Configure.

Modify Contrast Levels

Locate the Contrast or Brightness slider. Increasing this value makes whites brighter and blacks deeper, creating more dramatic film noir aesthetics. Decreasing it produces softer, more muted grayscale tones. Test different levels in both daylight and night to see how shadows respond.

Fine-Tune Shadow Intensity

Find the Shadow Depth or Shadow Intensity setting. Higher values deepen shadows under trees, buildings, and terrain overhangs—perfect for that classic mystery movie feel. Lower values reduce shadow harshness, making caves and dark areas easier to navigate.

Preview Changes in Real-Time

Walk around your world while adjusting sliders. Pay attention to how sunlight hits blocks at different times of day. The shader recalculates lighting instantly, so you'll see changes immediately. Save your preferred configuration once satisfied.
