How to Find Out Which Blocks the Chisel Supports

Trial and Error Is the Fastest Method

The Chisel supports a wide range of blocks, but the exact list depends on which other mods you have installed. The quickest way to discover supported blocks is to simply right-click them with the Chisel. If a selection screen appears, the block is supported. If nothing happens, it is not.

Common Supported Categories

In general, the Chisel supports most common building materials: stone and its variants, cobblestone, sandstone, wood planks, logs, dirt, gravel, glass, and various metal or gem blocks. Many decorative mods also register their blocks with the Chisel, so if you have other building mods installed, try chiseling their blocks too.

Checking Without Wasting Blocks

If you want to preview variants before committing, open the selection screen and look at the icons — you do not have to click one. Closing the screen with Escape leaves the block untouched. This lets you browse appearances freely. Note that some blocks may only have a handful of variants while others have dozens, so explore the full grid before deciding.
