Troubleshoot Flickering, Banding, or Color Issues

Identify the Problem

Flickering often appears as rapid light changes or shadow strobing. Banding shows as visible color stripes instead of smooth gradients. Color issues include oversaturation, washed-out tones, or incorrect hues in specific biomes.

Check Shader Compatibility

Ensure you're using a compatible loader (Iris or OptiFine) and that your graphics driver is up to date. Outdated drivers commonly cause visual glitches with shader packs.

Adjust Temporal Settings

If flickering occurs, look for temporal anti-aliasing or frame blending options in shader settings. Disabling or lowering these can reduce strobing, though it may slightly affect image sharpness.

Reset to Defaults

If colors look wrong, reset shader settings to default and adjust only one value at a time. This isolates which setting causes the issue. Common culprits include tone mapping, color grading, or dimension-specific overrides.

Lower Shader Complexity

Disable advanced features like parallax mapping or complex shadows temporarily. If issues disappear, re-enable features one by one to find the problematic setting. Report persistent bugs to the shader developer with your hardware specs.
