Optimize Frame Rate on Low-End Hardware

Check Current Performance

Press F3 (or your debug key) to see your FPS counter. Chick Pro Lux is designed to run fast, but you may need to adjust settings if you're dropping frames below your target.

Reduce Shadow Quality

In shader options, look for shadow distance or shadow resolution settings. Lowering these reduces the computational load while keeping soft shadows visible. Start by reducing shadow distance to see if frames improve without sacrificing visual quality.

Disable Advanced Effects

If available, disable volumetric lighting, bloom, or ambient occlusion. These features add visual polish but consume more resources. Chick Pro Lux remains beautiful without them on older machines.

Lower Render Distance Carefully

While not a shader setting, reducing your render distance in Video Settings helps frame rate significantly. Pair this with shader optimization for the best balance between view distance and performance.

Monitor Temperature

After adjusting, play for 10-15 minutes and check if your GPU or CPU is throttling due to heat. If frame rate drops over time, your hardware may need better cooling or further optimization.
