Track the Origin of Any Item in Your Inventory

Viewing Item Origins

Every item in Chest DNA Mod carries metadata about where it came from. To see this information:

1. Hover over any item in your inventory, chest, or hotbar

2. Look below the normal tooltip for the origin card—a pixel-art display showing the item's source

3. The card displays the structure or source name (like "Dungeon" or "Fishing"), biome, and finder name if applicable

Viewing Full Details

For coordinates, exact dimension, and complete metadata:

1. Hold Shift while hovering over the item

2. The tooltip expands to show precise coordinates and which dimension the item came from

3. If the item was found by another player on a server, their player name appears in the details

This works on stacked items too—all items in a stack share the same origin data, so you can track group loot without unstacking. The origin card uses color-coded borders for rare sources like End Cities and ancient cities, making valuable finds easy to spot at a glance.
