How to Turn a Villager into a Chef and Unlock Advanced Food Trades
Getting a Chef
The Chef is the advanced Chef's Delight profession. Chefs trade more complex prepared dishes than Cooks, so they are worth setting up once you have the required workstation.
Steps
1. Obtain a Cooking Pot. This is the workstation block that assigns the Chef profession.
2. Locate an unemployed villager — one with no job badge and plain clothing.
3. Place the Cooking Pot down within reach of the villager.
4. Green particles confirm the profession change, and the villager will switch to the Chef outfit.
5. Open the trade menu by right-clicking the Chef. You will see advanced food offers that are not available from a Cook.
Tips
Level up the Chef by trading with them repeatedly. Higher villager levels unlock better and more varied food trades.- Do not break the Cooking Pot after assigning the profession unless you want the villager to lose the job.
- If you already have a Cook, you do not need to convert them — just find a second unemployed villager and give them the Cooking Pot so you keep both trade types available.
