How to Set Up a Working Cook and Chef Trading Hall

Planning the Build

A trading hall lets you keep multiple Cooks and Chefs in one place so you can cycle through food trades quickly. Because each profession is bound to a specific workstation block, you need one workstation per villager.

Building It

1. Gather enough Skillets for your Cooks and Cooking Pots for your Chefs. One block per villager.

2. Build a row of cells, each large enough for one villager to stand and reach their workstation. A one-block gap with the workstation placed in front works well.

3. Bring in unemployed villagers and assign each one to a station: place a Skillet next to a villager for a Cook, or a Cooking Pot for a Chef.

4.

5. Keep each workstation permanently in place so villagers do not lose their jobs.

Keeping It Running

  • Light the hall well and seal it against mobs — losing villagers means losing unlocked trades.
  • Restock trades by letting villagers return to their workstations between trading sessions.
  • Mix Cooks and Chefs so you have both simple and advanced food available in one trip.
  • If a villager will not take a profession, check that they are truly unemployed and that no other villager has claimed that workstation.
