How to Search Through Your Chat History

Chat Patches keeps far more messages than vanilla and lets you search them, which is a lifesaver when someone pasted coordinates or a link an hour ago.

Opening the Search

With chat open, look for the search button on the chat screen, or use the search keybind if you assigned one in controls. This opens a search bar over your message list. Type any word or phrase and the chat filters down to only the lines containing it.

Reading the Results

Matching messages stay visible while the rest are hidden, so you can scroll the filtered list normally. Because the mod stores a very large number of messages, your search reaches back much further than the default chat would. Clear the search field to restore the full history.

Copying What You Find

Once a message is on screen, right-click it or use the copy menu to grab its text or specific pieces of data like the sender's name. This is handy for pulling a coordinate string or command out of a search result without retyping it.

Tips

Search works on received messages, so it won't dig up things you only typed and never sent. If a result seems missing, widen your search term — partial words match better than long exact phrases.
