How to Keep and Restore Chat History Across Sessions and Servers
One of Chat Patches' biggest draws is that your chat doesn't vanish when you leave a world or restart the game. Here's how to make the most of it.
Persistent History
The mod saves chat history and your previously sent messages, and it carries them across all worlds and servers. That means when you rejoin a server later, you can scroll up and still see what was said before, and pressing the up arrow in the chat box cycles through messages you typed in past sessions.
Chat Logging
In the config you'll find a logging option. With it enabled, the mod writes your chat to log files so it can be restored in future Minecraft sessions. Check the logging settings to confirm it's on and to see where those files are kept. This is what lets history survive even a full game restart.
Restoring After a Break
If your chat looks empty on launch, open the config and use the restore option to reload saved messages. Give it a moment to pull the history back in.
Managing the Logs
Because logs accumulate over time, you may want to clear or trim them occasionally. The config exposes controls for that so old data doesn't grow without limit.
