Using a Ceramic Bucket to Carry Water and Lava
Filling the Bucket
With a fired ceramic bucket in hand, right-click a water source block to fill it. The same action works on lava, though you should be careful near lava lakes. The bucket behaves like a vanilla bucket for pickup and placement.
Emptying and Placing Fluids
Right-click while holding a full bucket to place the fluid. Water flows normally; lava behaves like vanilla lava and will set fires or damage you if you stand in it. Aim at a solid block face to control where the fluid lands.
What to Watch Out For
- Do not right-click a fluid while sneaking if you want to place it; sneak-placing interacts with the block instead.
- Lava in a ceramic bucket is still dangerous — the bucket does not protect you from heat.
- If the bucket is unfired, filling does nothing useful; smelt it first.
Common Uses
Carrying water to a farm, moving lava for a fuel source, or transporting fluids between builds. Because ceramic buckets are cheaper than iron ones, they are ideal for early-game fluid logistics where losing a bucket is not a disaster.
