How to Craft and Fire a Ceramic Bucket

Making the Unfired Bucket

Start by shaping clay into the unfired clay bucket. The recipe follows the same layout as a vanilla bucket, but substitutes clay balls or clay blocks for the metal. Once crafted, you hold a fragile item that cannot yet carry fluids — it must be fired first.

Firing It Into a Working Bucket

Place the unfired clay bucket into a furnace and smelt it like any clay product. The output is a finished ceramic bucket ready for use. If you have multiple buckets, batch them in the same furnace run to save fuel.

Why Fire It First

An unfired bucket will not hold water, lava, or any other fluid. Trying to scoop before smelting simply wastes the item. Always confirm the item name no longer says "unfired" before heading to a fluid source.

Practical Tips

  • Keep spare clay on hand; buckets break and you will want replacements.
  • Store unfired buckets somewhere safe before firing so you do not accidentally use them.
  • A single furnace load of clay buckets is cheap compared to iron, which is the main appeal of this mod early game.
