Use Shield Break to Counter Raised Shields

Recognize Shield Positioning

When an opponent raises their shield (holds it up defensively), your sword strikes deal reduced damage. Shield break detects this and switches your held item to an axe, which breaks shields more effectively.

Enable Shield Break

Toggle Shield Break in the Celeste menu. The module monitors your target's stance and automatically swaps your weapon when a shield is raised.

Manage Your Inventory

Ensure you have an axe in your hotbar alongside your primary sword. The module can only swap to items you're carrying. Keep both weapons accessible so the swap happens instantly.

Attack During the Swap

Once your axe is in hand, strike the shield immediately. The axe's higher shield damage will break through faster than repeated sword hits. After the shield breaks, the module can swap you back to your sword for follow-up damage.

Adapt to Opponent Behavior

Some players raise shields reactively; others hold them constantly. Watch for patterns and use shield break proactively when you predict a shield raise. This turns defense into an opening for your burst damage.
