How to Make Your First Stew in Caupona
Getting the Base Together
Caupona's stew system starts with a Clay Pot placed over a heat source. Craft the pot, then set it on top of a lit Brick Stove, Clay Portable Brazier, or any block that provides culinary heat. Right-click the pot to open its interface — this is where ingredients go.
Building a Stew
Drop in a combination of ingredients that share a theme. Caupona rewards coherent recipes: a mushroom-forward mix becomes Cream of Mushroom Soup, a pumpkin-forward mix becomes Cream of Pumpkin Soup, and a meat-heavy mix becomes Cream of Meat Soup. Add a liquid base (water bucket or similar) and let the pot cook. The pot will bubble and eventually settle into a finished stew.
Serving It
You cannot drink straight from the pot. Use a Bowl on the finished pot to ladle out a serving. Each bowl holds one portion, and the pot keeps the remainder for later servings. If you want a portable meal, craft a Bread Bowl and ladle into that instead — it is edible and holds the stew like a normal bowl.
Common First-Timer Mistakes
- Do not forget the heat source; a cold pot will not cook.
- Do not overfill with mismatched ingredients or you may end up with a generic result rather than a named soup.
- Keep spare bowls in your inventory before you start cooking.
