How to Build a Working Stove and Heat Source Setup

The Core Blocks

Caupona cooking needs heat. The main heat blocks are the Brick Stove, the Clay Portable Brazier, and the Brick Hypocaust Firebox. The stove and brazier are direct heat sources you place under or beside a Clay Pot. The hypocaust firebox is part of a larger underfloor heating system.

Simple Setup

1. Place a Brick Stove on the ground.

2. Light it (fuel it like a furnace).

3. Place a Clay Pot on top of the stove.

4. Right-click the pot to add ingredients and cook.

This is the fastest path to cooking and is what most players use early on.

Portable Setup

A Clay Portable Brazier can be picked up and moved, which is useful for cooking at a campsite or in a temporary base. It provides the same culinary heat as a stove but is not a permanent fixture.

Chimneys and Ventilation

If you build a stove indoors, add a Brick Chimney Flue above it and cap it with a Brick Chimney Pot. This is decorative but also thematically correct for a kitchen. The Brick Caliduct is used for hypocaust-style heat distribution if you want to build a larger heated floor.

Counters

Place a Brick Counter next to your stove for a proper kitchen look. The Brick Counter with Dolium variant stores a dolium (a large storage jar) inside the counter, which is handy for keeping ingredients close to the cooking area.
