Understanding Castle Material Variation and Weathering

How Materials Randomize

Every castle uses a unique combination of materials:

  • Roofs are built from one of several wood types or stone variants (Spruce, Dark Oak, Deepslate Bricks, Dark Prismarine, Red Nether Bricks, or Crimson wood).
  • Walls use Stone Bricks, Deepslate Bricks, Polished Blackstone Bricks, Sandstone, or End Stone Bricks as their primary material.
  • Stairs are constructed from Bricks, Stone Bricks, Polished Granite, Deepslate Bricks, Polished Blackstone, or Red Nether Bricks.

This means two castles in the same world will look visually distinct.

Weathering Effects

Castles don't stay pristine—the mod applies weathering effects that replace some original stone blocks with cracked variants, cobblestone, and andesite. This creates an aged, worn appearance:

  • Weathering is random and partial, so some walls show heavy decay while others remain intact.
  • Cracked blocks and cobblestone patches appear naturally throughout the structure.
  • This effect enhances immersion, making castles feel like ancient ruins rather than new builds.

If you're collecting materials, note that weathered sections may contain different blocks than the castle's primary palette.
