How to Stop Players From Loading Chunks on a Carpet AMS Server

Why you'd want this

On a technical or public server, players who wander far out can keep chunks loaded around themselves, which wastes server memory and can interfere with your own chunk-loading setups. Carpet AMS Addition gives you a single toggle to control this behavior globally.

Toggling player chunk loading

1. Make sure you have operator permissions or are on the server console.

2. Run /playerChunkLoading false to stop players from loading chunks around themselves.

3. Run /playerChunkLoading true to restore the default behavior.

4. Confirm the change by checking the chat feedback — Carpet commands echo the new state back to you.

Things to keep in mind

  • This is a global setting, so it applies to every player on the server, not just one person.
  • If you rely on players being present to keep farms running, turning this off will break that. Use a dedicated chunk-loading method instead, such as a chunk loader or a player bot that you control separately.
  • Test the change during a quiet period before applying it on a busy server, since players may notice farms stopping when they walk away.
  • The setting persists for the session according to how Carpet handles its rules; re-check it after a restart if your server reloads configs.
