How to Change a Block's Blast Resistance With Carpet AMS Addition

Why change blast resistance

Blast resistance determines how well a block survives explosions from TNT, creepers, and similar sources. Server admins sometimes want to make certain blocks tougher or weaker for minigames, protection zones, or technical builds.

Setting a block's blast resistance

1. Get operator or console access.

2. Use the command form /customBlockBlastResistance set <block> <value>.

3. Replace <block> with the block you want to modify, using its standard block ID.

4. Replace <value> with the blast resistance number you want.

5. Confirm the change in the command feedback.

How to choose a value

  • Higher values make the block harder to destroy with explosions; lower values make it easier.
  • Vanilla blocks have known blast resistance values, so look up the block you are mimicking if you want consistent behavior.
  • Setting a value too high can make a block effectively explosion-proof, which may be exactly what you want for a protected area.

Practical notes

  • This changes the block's behavior globally, so it affects every instance of that block in the world, not just one location.
  • Test in a creative world first so you don't accidentally make your base indestructible or your arena too fragile.
  • If you need to revert, set the value back to the block's original blast resistance.
