Get Detailed Explanations for Suspected Leaks
Using the Explain Command
When CTL flags a leak, you might wonder: *Why does it think this is a problem?* The explain command provides that reasoning.
Steps:
1. Run /ctl leaks to see all tracked leaks and their IDs
2. Choose a leak you want to understand better
3. Run /ctl explain <leak_id> in chat
4. CTL displays:
- Why it's classified as a leak (growth pattern, retention behavior)
- Confidence level and reasoning behind it
- Suspected mod and component
- Recommended action (update, disable, report)
Interpreting the Output
- High confidence + rapid growth = urgent fix needed
- Medium confidence + slow growth = monitor and plan an update
- Low confidence = likely false positive; safe to ignore
The explanation also notes if CTL has auto-triggered a Spark profiling session, which provides even deeper technical data for reporting to mod developers. Use this information to make informed decisions about which mods to update or replace.
